Spironolactone is a potassium-sparing diuretic with anti-androgenic properties, used off-label for the treatment of hormonal acne and female pattern hair loss. By blocking androgen receptors and reducing androgen production, it decreases sebum production and slows androgenetic hair thinning. Commonly prescribed for adult women who have not responded adequately to topical treatments.
